Subscriber role option

We don’t seem to have the subscriber option for people roles. Only 4 appear as a choice….Administrator, editor, author, and contributor. How can I add subscriber as a role?

For sites hosted on WordPress.com, there’s no user role as Subscriber. The equivalent term on WordPress.com will be Follower and Viewer.
https://en.support.wordpress.com/user-rolesFollower is user role that can only read and comment on posts and pages for a public site.
https://en.support.wordpress.com/user-roles/#followerIf a site is set to private, then the user role to read and comment on the site will be Viewer.
https://en.support.wordpress.com/user-roles/#viewerSince your site jclibstaff.wordpress.com is a public site, you can add “subscribers” to your site as Follower so they’ll receive notifications whenever you have new posts published on your site.
