Subscriber Transfer

  • Unknown's avatar

    Hi!

I am in the process of transferring my website from http://www.lakeshorebonsai.wordpress.com to http://www.lakeshorebonsai.com

I learned through your support website that I should contact support directly and request that my subscribers be transferred.

I would really appreciate it if you could help me out.

    All the best,

    Aaron

Please install JetPack. Then subscribe to this topic so you’ll be notified when staff responds. Just be patient!

    Thank you, Jetpack is installed.

But I just realized I can’t activate it.

Do you get any error message when you try to activate Jetpack?

Could you try to disable all other plugins and reactivate Jetpack. This way we can see if other plugins interfere with Jetpack.

Also make sure you are running the latest WordPress and Jetpack version:

    http://www.jetpack.me

    Looking forward to your reply.

    Thank you for your reply.

    The error is:

Your website needs to be publicly accessible to use Jetpack: site_inaccessible

Error Details: The Jetpack server was unable to communicate with your site http://lakeshorebonsai.com [IXR -32300: transport error: http_request_failed Operation timed out after 15145 milliseconds with 0 out of -1 bytes received]

Unfortunately I am hosted with GoDaddy and this seems to be a very common problem. I’ve tried everything I could find online (updates, deleting plugins, etc.) The tech at GoDaddy also told me to rollback to PHP 5.2 then try, but with PHP5.2 I can’t even access WordPress.

This is really a pain. I switched to self-hosted wordpress because I wanted more flexibility, but without Jetpack I won’t be getting very far.

If I can’t sort it out soon I will try to cancel my GoDaddy hosting, because this really shouldn’t be this difficult.

    Thanks again,

    Aaron

It might be that you need to disable the maintainence mode on your site in order for Jetpack to connect to it. Could you please try that?

  • Unknown's avatar

yes I tried that yesterday but unfortunately it still did not work.

Can you please use Jetpack’s Debugger module to send us some more information about your site?

    1) Go to the Jetpack page in your dashboard.
    2) Click on “Help” tab in the upper right side of the page and click the link for “Jetpack Debugging Center.”
    3) Click the link that says “click here to contact Jetpack support.”
    4) Fill in the description box and your name and email address.
    5) Click the “Contact Support” button.

    Thanks!

    Kardotim,

Thank you for your help – I have solved the problem. GoDaddy’s Windows-based hosting is not compatible with Jetpack.

For those having the same problem, the solution is to transfer your hosting from Windows-based to Linux-based. It is free and doesn’t change anything if you are working on a Windows platform. This solution is floating around the forums, and worked for me.

    Thank you!
