Subscribers List

  Hi there,

  I’m trying to invite some of my friends to follow my blog, and I feel like the functionality has changed recently.
  Under Users->Subscribers, I selected “Add Subscribers” and entered a few email addresses. How do I know if my friends have accepted the request? I no longer see the “Invites” tab or pending invites. I got an email saying ‘Subscriber import completed’.

  Hi Mita! I had a quick look at your blog information; do I understand correctly that you had tried to invite a few email addresses, by using the ‘Add Subscribers’ button under Users > Subscribers ?

  The subscribers/invitation view has changed a bit, but normally anyone you invite would indeed still need to accept that invitation. Do the email addresses you added appear in the list of subscribers at the moment?

  Hi! Yes that’s correct – as soon as I add them, they immediately appear in the list of subscribers… it doesn’t seem as though it waits for an email confirmation. How can I tell if they’ve actually accepted the invite?

  Hi there,

  When you invite someone to be a contributor to your site (another admin, editor, author, etc) it is possible to see if they have accepted an invite or not. You can see in this example here where I have invited someone to be an editor on my test site:

  

  While this is true of anyone you invite who would have login access to your site back-end, we do not show whether a subscriber has accepted the subscription or not. On our end we are able to see when a subscriber email is not imported for some reason, but we don’t have a way to see on our end what the status of the subscriber invite is since that is handled by a separate system than the one we use to invite admin, editors and other direct contributors.

  The folks you are inviting to subscribe to your site are specific friends of yours, as in people you know directly? If so you can email them separately to ask them to be sure to catch the invite and approve the subscription.
