subscribers missing

I posted a blog earlier this week that is getting some traffic, however, an emailed subscription request was approved (at both ends) and still does not show on my Subscriber list. When I go to add manually, I get an error message that my free site is limited to 100 subs…I’m nowhere near that and the 1 approved sub cannot view my recent post. Any suggestions?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Hi @pinklighthousepodcast

Thanks for the details, you’ve actually got two separate things going on here, so let’s tackle them one at a time.

Issue 1 — The approved subscriber isn’t showing on your list

This is most likely one of the following:

    • The subscription confirmation didn’t fully process: even when both sides approve, occasionally the subscriber record doesn’t sync properly. Ask your subscriber to try subscribing again from scratch at your blog, they can visit your site and use the subscribe button/widget to re-initiate the process cleanly.
    • Check your Subscribers list carefully: go to My Site → Earn → Subscribers (or Users → Subscribers depending on your dashboard view). Sometimes subscribers appear under a slightly different email than expected, worth scrolling through or searching by name.
    • The subscriber may be in a pending state: if they used a different email to confirm than they subscribed with, the record can get stuck.

Issue 2 — “Free site limited to 100 subscribers” error when adding manually

This is a known WordPress.com Free plan limitation, but since you’re nowhere near 100 subscribers, the error is almost certainly a false trigger. This can happen when:

    • WordPress.com’s system miscounts pending or ghost subscriber records that aren’t visible to you
    • There’s a temporary glitch in the subscriber count on the backend

    What to do:

    1. Go to wordpress.com/help/contact and report both issues together, specifically mention the false “100 subscriber limit” error and the missing approved subscriber. The support team can audit your actual subscriber count on the backend and manually clear any ghost records causing the cap error.
    2. In the meantime, share the direct link to your latest post with your subscriber so they can read it now, they don’t need to be on your subscriber list to view a public post.

Let us know how it goes after contacting support!

Hi there @pinklighthousepodcast in order for staff to assist, please share the problematic email address. Write it here normally and the forum software will redact it from public view like this example (email visible only to moderators and staff) but staff will still be able to see it.
