Subscribers not followers?
-
Hi, I have people who subscribe to my blog such as family members. They don’t write blogs so don’t have wordpress accounts so how can they become followers of my blog? I have lots of people who enjoy reading my blogs but can’t become followers and there must be a way?
Thanks, HannahThe blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

You could encourage them to subscribe to your site via email notifications:

Hi, yes that’s what I’m doing at the moment but it’s just a shame that this doesn’t count as your official follower count?

Email followers should be counted in your follower count. For example, I can see that you have 42 email followers:

Email followers, i.e. people following your site only via email and not a WordPress.com account, are listed separately from your WordPress.com followers, yes. Keep in mind that WordPress.com followers can also be subscribed to email notifications, but that does not list them under email followers. The distinction here is whether or not the follower has a WordPress.com account. But both calculate towards your total follower count.
Looking at your stats, right now you have 77 followers. 30 of these are WordPress.com followers, and 47 email only followers.
