Subscribers Not Reflected in Email Follower List

Hi, all. New to WP, so bear with me. Using the Cubic theme with the free web-based version of WP, so I assume it’s the most up to date version (couldn’t find that information in my account.)
I’ve been told by a couple of folks that they’ve subscribed (one said they confirmed their subscription) and they’re not showing up in my email follower list. I do have around 50 subscribers already. I have two places to do it- the WP follow button on the homepage and in Contact in the main menu using the Cubic widget available. globaldebauchery.wordpress.com. It’s possible folks are saying they’re subscribing and aren’t, of course, but wanted to check it out because I’m worried I might be losing subscriptions.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Hi @graphxgoddess, the email list is for email-only followers. You’ve probably got some who are following using their WordPress.com accounts, with or without email notifications, and those would not show in that list.

Thanks, supernovia. I actually can see both my WordPress followers and email followers, but people seem to be missing. I tried downloading the CSV to see if there were other subscribers there that weren’t listing in the interface, but to no avail. I blasted a blog today and some folks who said they subscribed (that aren’t reflected in either follower list) managed to receive the notification. Are you saying that WP followers might have their subscription settings turning off notifications?

They can do that, sure. Or they can get daily or weekly notifications if they choose.

Sure! There are two (of the three) whose personal email addresses I have (one may be using a different email address): (email visible only to moderators and staff) and (email visible only to moderators and staff). The latter said he received a blast yesterday, but is still not showing in my follower list. THANK YOU!

@supernovia, if a WP follower was following me, though, they’d still show in my follower list regardless of their subscription settings, right?

Hi @graphxgoddess, the second one wouldn’t show up in the email-only list, since they’re following using their WordPress.com account.
I couldn’t find evidence of the first one following you using that address.
