Subscribers to my site are not getting emails

    I’ve tried figuring out the problem but have yet to nail down why someone who subscribes to my blog posts does not get emails when I post something new. I have about 350 subscribers and in my subscriber dashboard, most show “not sending” under the email subscription heading. Kind of hard to drive people to my site when even the people who signed up aren’t getting notified. Is there a way to fix this issue on my side?

    Hi @benwilder,

    I understand that your subscribers do not receive email notifications when you post something new in your blog. To help troubleshoot this, could you please confirm a few details:

    • Are all of your new posts published publicly (not set to private or password-protected)?
    • Have you noticed whether any subscribers are receiving emails, or is the issue affecting all of them?

    Sometimes the “Not Sending” status indicates that the subscriber hasn’t confirmed their subscription via the opt-in email, or they may have unsubscribed or marked a past notification as spam.

    Once I have this information, I can better advise whether this is something that can be resolved on your side or if we’ll need to take a closer look on our end.

    Most say “not sending” while others say “not subscribed” or “subscribed”.

    @kaichicha was on the right path. “Not sending” in a subscriber list usually means the subscriber has opted out of receiving all emails from WordPress.com sites.

    In their subscription settings, there’s an option for “Pause all email updates from sites you’re subscribed to on WordPress.com” – when they check that, you’ll see “Not sending” on your end, as they have opted out of receiving all emails from their subscriptions.

    “Not subscribed” usually means they have not completed the subscription process. They received an email confirmation when they signed up, and they did not click the link in the email to confirm their subscription.
