  I am trying to subscribe but somehow I am not getting my confirmation email, and yes I have checked my junk email.

  To what site are you trying to subscribe?

  Your subscription settings at https://wordpress.com/me/notifications/subscriptions have you set to follow by email automatically, so if you click the follow button on a site you’ll immediately be subscribed to email notifications on the site as well. You won’t only be subscribed once you click a confirmation link in an email with that setting active.
