Subscription and Domain Registration

    I started a website on Monday on WordPress.com and decided that I didn’t want the upgrade to business and will be moving to WordPress.org. So I canceled my subscription and domain registration the same day because I was told the domain would release and I could get it again. Now when I go onto a web hosting site to purchase the domain and hosting for WordPress.org, it says the domain is still taken by WordPress. I want to make sure that the domain is no longer owned and held on WordPress.com so that I can repurchase it through a web hosting site.
