Subscription Delays

There seems to be a delay for showing subscribers to my blog. On a couple of occassions I’ve had people email me to say they subscribed, but they are not listed, or are listed after a day or so passes. Also, I’ve seen people suddenly show up as a subscriber, but the “subscribed on” date is listed as 3 days before the first day I see it. I’m concerned that subscribers are getting lost in cyberspace – has anyone else had this experience?

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

I’ve tagged this so that hopefully staff will see it as they are probably the only ones that can answer this.

If they do not respond here, contact them directly at http://en.support.wordpress.com/contact/ .

I have passed on this thread to staff through the moderator forum as well for you…

A subscriber isn’t added to your stats view until they have clicked on the link from the confirmation email. When they have, they are added to the list you can see—and their subscribe date is always set as the day they clicked the button to begin the process.

I am having this problem as well. I am aware of subscribers who have signed up in the last few days (maybe last couple of weeks), and yet they are not yet listed on my subscriber list. How long does it take and why is there a delay?

I, too, am experiencing these same problems. Several have told me they subscribed, but they are not receiving the confirm emails with which to finish the process, thus allowing their name to show up on my Subscriber list and receive regular notifications when I post new stuff to my blog.

Thanks WordPress peoples for any help you can give us all out here with this issue!

How are your subscribers signing up? Are they using the Email Subscription widget on your blog or using the Subscribe link in the Admin Bar?

If it’s the widget, they should be receiving the email about having subscribed and they should show up in your subscribers list.

If it’s the Subscribe link, then depending on their default setting in their WordPress.com Subscription reader, they will only get the email if they’ve subscribed to receive your updates by email. If they read onsite or via Jabber, they won’t get an email, nor will they show up in your subscriber list.

There was a problem with email subscriptions at the end of September that kept updates from going out for a few days, but that problem should be resolved.

They tell me they are using the Email Subscription widget on the front page.

One of my Yahoo account subscribers said she’s never received a “confirmation email,” therefore not getting the chance to respond and then be added to the list.

Thanks for any additional thoughts you can offer.

First of all they should, of course, check their spam folder. If the confirmation email isn’t there, perhaps they should try signing up again. And you should drop a note to Support directly http://en.support.wordpress.com/contact/

(FWIW-I’ve just subscribed to your blog via the email subscription widget while logged out of WordPress.com and received the confirmation email almost immediately.)

Thank you for the assist. I’ll advise them to retry.

Appreciate your efforts on my behalf.
