'Subscription expired' for ALL follows
-
When I click to be notified of follow-up comments after I comment on someone else’s blog, I always receive this message: ‘Your subscription could not be activated, it may have expired.’ This appears to happen in every case. It’s been happening for over a month. An earlier post about this in this forum was not answered.
Should I delete my account and start a new one? I’d hate to do that.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hi –
Have you tried logging out + back in to WordPress.com?
It might be helpful to clear your browser cache if you haven’t done that yet. Here are the instructions:
https://en.support.wordpress.com/browser-issues/Are you running the most current version of your web browser? If you aren’t sure, you can go here to find out: http://browsehappy.com/
If the above actions to do not fix error message you are receiving please let me know.

Liz, thanks so much for the quick response. Here’s something interesting:
– When I copied the “Confirm Follow” link into Facebook, which I rarely use, it successfully activated the subscription.
– However, when I logged into my WordPress account in the same browser, and then pasted another “Confirm Follow” link, I experienced the problem. It’s as if being logged into WordPress triggers the problem.
I have the most recent versions of Safari, Firefox, and Chrome.

Please check that you have not blocked any emails coming from WordPress.com? Check here: https://wordpress.com/me/notifications/subscriptions
Are you following any comments here? https://subscribe.wordpress.com/?option=comments
If you are still having trouble after checking these settings, please reply with the post that you are trying to follow, and I can take a closer look.
Thanks =)

I have not.
Are you following any comments here?
Yes, I see comments that I followed between July 2012 and January 2016. As far as I can tell, all comments that I’ve tried to follow since then have received the “could not be activated” message.
Please reply with the post that you are trying to follow, and I can take a closer look.
Two posts whose comments I’ve been trying to follow are “London Stone will finally get its due again on The History Blog (http://www.thehistoryblog.com/archives/41129), attempted several times since 3/18/2016, and “Do You Have Phantom Vibration Syndrome?” on Kirkville (http://www.mcelhearn.com/do-you-have-phantom-vibration-syndrome/), yesterday just before posting to the forum.
Thanks for looking into it! -
Hi Again,
Sorry it has taken me a few days to get back to you. I have been working on your issue, trying to replicate it, and I think have found the solution (I hope!). I believe this issue is happening because you have blocked invite emails in the past, a setting that is no longer visible on WordPress.com that I can find.
Here is how you can unblock the invite emails.
1) Log out and go to http://subscribe.wordpress.com/ and enter your email address used here at WordPress.com, and select “request details”2) Requesting Details will generate an email titled “[Subscribe] Your Subscription Details”. A link like this will be in the email:
https://subscribe.wordpress.com/key=a111b222&email=wp%wp.com3) Copy and paste that link into your browser, and then add this to the end of the link: &unsub_invites&option=cancel Then hit your enter key to load the URL in your browser.
4) You should receive a confirmation message that reads, “You will now receive invite emails again at (email visible only to moderators and staff). To stop receiving them, click here.”
Once this is done, your issue should be resolved.
I hope this helps! And if not, let me know, I will keep working on it :)
