Subscription for theme
-
There is a Stax theme that I want to use for my website creation. But it is mentioned to “Upgrade to a Business plan and subscribe to this theme!” Does this mean, that along with the yearly payments for WordPress Business Membership, I will have to make yearly payments for this theme as well? Is there a way to make a one-time payment for the theme? And if I chose to only pay once for the theme, what effect it would have on my site hosting and other plugins?

Hey there! Yes. The Business Plan includes access to several premium themes, but you can also install paid themes like that one. It requires its own $99/year subscription that pays its developers. Typically, the subscriptions are ongoing because the maintenance is ongoing, too.
That said, I did notice Stax also has a free version of that theme. It may not have all of the same features, but if you’re looking for just the general look and feel, you could use that: https://wordpress.org/themes/stax/
You would still need the Business Plan to install it here as a third party theme, but that is one option you could use. And just to note: our service includes SSL hosting, direct WordPress support, spam protection, backups, maintenance, security, and other services and features that don’t come with the free software. Basically, as a service, we’ll have your back in ways that the free software itself cannot. Extra code like plugins and outside themes can complicate the service we’re offering, so we require the Business Plan for plugin and theme installations.
