  On my blog, the sign up widget says:
  Enter your email address to receive notice of new posts. Join # other followers.

  Until I get more subscribers, I don’t want the current number of followers to show. How can i get rid of the “join # other followers” statement?

  You can eliminate the number display by opening the follow blog widget and disabling it there. Then click “ave” and close” http://en.support.wordpress.com/widgets/follow-blog-widget/
