Subscription not accessible
-
Hello,
I subscribed to “Staring at the floorboards” blog and confirmed with the blogger that I am indeed subscribed; everything on their end looks like I am a subscriber. However, it doesn’t show up in my subscriptions and I can’t get access to the blog through word press. It is asking me to re-subscribe. Can you help with this issue?
Thanks Josh

Hi there,
I checked your account, and you’re only subscribed to that blog to receive notifications when a new post is published. To view the content, you’ll have to become a paid subscriber.
To become a paid subscriber, click on the Subscribe button on any of the posts and fill in your payment details.

Thanks for the reply. I spoke directly with the blog owner for “Staring at the floorboards” who confirmed that I am a paid subscriber and from his side everything should be working. I also have record of the funds being charged to my credit card. Yet, it didn’t seem to transfer over to the WordPress account. Not only do I not have access to his blog content, I will never have ability to update my subscription as it’s not showing on my account.

Hello there,
Thank you reaching back out.
I spoke directly with the blog owner for “Staring at the floorboards” who confirmed that I am a paid subscriber and from his side everything should be working.
I’d recommend the site owner reaching out to us here: https://wordpress.com/help/contact whereby we can take a look at the subscriptions, and check which account is in use there.
I wonder if there’s some confusion with which account is in use with the subscriptions.

Thank you for the reply. The blog owner has reached out to you as you may know. He copied me your correspondences and I think I figured out the problem. Some how, the email I entered when I subscribed was incorrect and not an active email account that I operate (most likely not at all). It looks like it was entered as “(email visible only to moderators and staff)” when it should have read “(email visible only to moderators and staff)”. This is the email my WordPress account is set up under as well. I’m
Is it possible to change the email for my subscription?
Thanks!

Hey there,
Awesome!
Yes, it should be possible if you change the account email address here: https://wordpress.com/me/account in the account.
To note, it’s not possible to use an email address for multiple accounts, but instead you would need to change the address for one account, to free up the email to use for another account.
I hope this helps.

The challenge in this is that the subscription for the blog is under (email visible only to moderators and staff), which I do not operate. It’s an email that belongs to someone else.
My question is whether erroneous email I used to subscribe to this blog can be updated to my actual email: (email visible only to moderators and staff)The link above will only allow me to change the (email visible only to moderators and staff) but I can’t change this to (email visible only to moderators and staff) as it’s not my email account.
Hopefully that makes sense!

Hi there,
To clarify, the gmail address you mention is already in use under a different account that you appear to have set up with us. To set @josmoinc to use that address you will first need to access the other account, and change it to use some other address instead.
This will “free up” the address, so you can set it as the email address of record for @josmoinc as you wish.
If you are unsure how to log in to your other account, you can enter the email address here to send yourself a login link: https://wordpress.com/wp-login.php?action=lostpassword
Once you are logged it to your other account, change the email address there (can be set to any other email address that you control) then log out, return to this account, and you can set the gmail address here.
Hope this helps point you in the right direction!

Hi there,
The email (email visible only to moderators and staff) is already in use under a different account by someone that isn’t me. I don’t have access to check (email visible only to moderators and staff) because it’s not my email. It may appear that I set it up, but Josh Smith is a rather common name and it appears someone else with the same name set up a WordPress account with that email. The only account I have with WordPress is @josmoinc.
Thanks,
Josh

Hello Josh,
I see the pickle…
Ok, so just going back to this:
I spoke directly with the blog owner for “Staring at the floorboards” who confirmed that I am a paid subscriber
Under what email and username are you the subscriber? (just to confirm).
-
Hey there,
The blog owner confirmed that I signed up using the erroneous gmail that unfortunately belongs to someone else. Although it’s mind boggling to me, I must have slipped and somehow registered using (email visible only to moderators and staff). I did so through a twitter link that didn’t require me to sign in to WordPress, not on WordPress site directly, which was my major regret.
I did confirm that my credentials and payment (subscription) were linked to the (email visible only to moderators and staff) not the hotmail account of the same name, in which my WordPress account is linked to.My hope was to somehow change the the original email that I subscribed under as I will never have control over this sub account.
thanks for following up!
Josh

Hi again,
Thanks for confirming. In this case we’re not able to transfer the subscription because they are managed by the site owner and not us directly.
The best option for moving forward will be for the site owner to offer you a refund for the erroneous purchase, and then you can repurchase the subscription using the correct email address for your @josmoinc account. They can do this by following the steps here: https://wordpress.com/support/wordpress-editor/blocks/payments/#canceling-subscriptions-and-issuing-refunds
You can also direct them to reach out to us at https://wordpress.com/help/contact and we are happy to walk them through it. Thanks!
