subscription with companymail not working

    On my site abtourpoule.wordpress.com , most readers can’t subscribe to the blog. They use the company email [name]@abt.eu

    When subscribing, I get a conformation email with a link and also an email with subject “[Subscribe] Confirmed Subscription to Posts on ABTourpoule”. It says that I’m receiving updates, but it is not working.

    When clicking on the confirmation-link, I go to a site and get the message : “Your subscription is not activated”

    In the admin-section I see that users with other mailadresses could subscribe without a problem.

    I have over 100 people that want to subscribe, please help!

    I checked the assistance. It turns out that the spamsoftware my company is using, Baraccuda, is automatically following links in the mail.

    Here is what happens:
    – You subscribe
    – You are sent a ‘please confirm’ email with a link to confirm
    – The Barracuda software is scanning this email and following the link, confirming you
    – You are sent an email saying you are confirmed. In this email is a link to unsubscribe
    – Barracuda is again scanning the mail and following the unsubscribe link. You are unsubscribed

    You end up with 2 emails, and no subscription. If you try and activate a previously activated subscription it will just say that you are not subscribed – the activation is a once-only event.

    WordPress let me know that “the subscription system will be reviewed at some point in the future” so tough luck for me, I have to go and find a different blogsite that works.

    Why not try using the feedburner service. I use that one since I had so many subscribers already on there before WP came out with the subscribe feature.

    If you decide to try, you need to use the plain HTML version of the feedburner subscribe which will take the people to the feedburner page where they enter their email address.

    Use the code under “Subscription Link Code” further down on the feedburner “publicize > email subscription page.

    And really, I would talk with your IT people and see if they can do anything. Possibly they could “whitelist” wordpress.COM or something so that baraccuda doesn’t mess with it.
