  how do i get a button for subscriptions? do i use feedburner? does wordpress not have its own tool, and when i tried to enter my site as the feed in the first step of feedburner registration, it gave me an invalid error. what should i do?

  Your wordpress.com username is not linked to a free hosted wordpress.com blog. If you have downloaded self hosting wordpress.ORG software then you are in the wrong forum and should be posting here http://wordpress.ORG/support
  If you are asking about a wordpress.COM blog please post the full url starting with http:// so we can look at it and help you.
