If I’ve paid for an upgrade, then part way through the year, pay for a further upgrade, do I get a part refund for the first upgrade? Thank you

Refunds are possible within 30days from the subscription. You can get a full refund. There is no part refund policy. You can learn more about refunds here:
If you upgrade your Plan(e.g., Personal to Premium), you will just need to pay the difference(5.26$ not 8.25$) for the subscription. You can just go to MySites->Plan->Plans(Center tab), and you can see the options there. Or just click on this link:
