“Subsite” templates or extra page templates

  I can customise a home page template and a pages template, but I can’t create another template as a landing page for a section of my site.

  My site has sections (selling completely unrelatied things) so I’d describe them as sub sites. e.g.

  www. websitename.com/subsitename/pagename

  I want to make a template for what would be each subsite main page please, that is different from the Home page and the pages templates.

  I’d appreciate advice please, e.g. naming it, template type, and having it have customisable header, footer, central content.
