Suburbia theme now has huge space at top of blog

theme not display correctly. I have checked all my settings, and cleared my cache and cookies. My blog has a huge space at the top now.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

I have had the same problem with our site now for a few days – presumably since the August 1st activation of infinite scroll for the Suburbia theme. (I heard about it in another post).
The problem has occurred out of the blue, not directly due to any admin change.
Our site:

The problem is not going away. Every Suburbia-theme website I’ve checked now has this issue.

Hi there. I’ve flagged this thread for Staff assistance. Please subscribe to this thread if you haven’t already, and be patient while waiting for a staff member to assist you.
In the meantime, could you let us know if you are using any Custom CSS?

Hi messianicway and drjutzi,
Everything appears fine on my end – this is what I see:
http://cl.ly/image/0f2I2L3G3o0PIt’s possible this is a browser-specific theme issue. Can you both let me know which browsers/versions you are using, and if things change if you view your site in a different browser? In other words, if you’re using IE, if changing to Firefox or Chrome changes how your site appears.
On the other hand, it’s possible our theme crew has fixed things up since you posted here, so please let me know if the issue persists. Please try clearing your cache first and reloading your site as that will ensure you are seeing a current version of your site.

Hi, jackiedana and andrewcpht,
Thanks for your time.
I’m running IE and selecting Compatibility View fixes it for me.
Simply clearing cache and cookies does not.
Firefox has no problem.Does this mean that every visitor to my website who runs IE must select Compat. View to see it correctly?

Hi drjutzi and messianicway,
It’s possible that this is an issue with the theme.
Could you take a screenshot of your site with Compatibility View turned off, and upload those to your media libraries? Also, which version of IE are you each using?
-
jackiedana,
Here is a screenshot with Compatibility View turned off.
And I am running Windows Explorer 7.
Thanks again for your help.
-
Internet Explorer 7 has not been supported since May of 2011 or even earlier than that. Upgrade your browser version here http://browsehappy.com
-
Hi drjutzi,
Thanks for your screenshot. Also, can you please clarify? Are you using Windows 7 or Internet Explorer (IE) 7?
-
timethief,
Not my computer or I would upgrade. I guess my outdated browser is the cause then?
-
If your computer is running IE 7, you will run into considerable issues with sites on WordPress.com (and elsewhere), as that browser is not capable of utilizing all of the functionality built into WordPress.com. Layout and other design elements may also be affected.

Hi again,
We haven’t officially dropped support for IE 8, but we can’t ensure all of our features, or theme stylesheets, will function properly in that browser.
My guess is you’re running into issues due to the outdated browser. You might encourage whoever owns the computer to upgrade or try a different browser.
You might also try viewing your site on another computer to see if things look better for you.
-
So it goes. Moral of the story is that outdated browsers are bad.
Thank you for “engineering happiness” in this post, jackiedana and all else.
