Sudden dramatic loss of blog followers

My blog suddenly dropped over 240 blog followers in one day.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

It could mean that a spam ring has been identified and eliminated. Spam Follows are getting to be a real problem.
Are these email followers or (as I suspect) followers in the Reader?

Ooh, that’s a big terms of service violation. But I doubt 240 people would wise up all at once. Must be something else going on.

Hello, I have also dropped 20 blog followers just today, can someone help me–the blog I need help with is http://zinahermez.wordpress.com It shows my comment followers but my blog followers have been wiped out. Can I get them back??

Mine still show up on the stats page as I said… but it is not adding them up correctly! Please look there and you will see what I mean. It gives a total of 43. But if I click there on”blog” it splits it into email and wordpress followers as always, but it is not adding the two together.

Click the little tickbox below the Write Comment box and you’ll get emails about it. Nobody is going to email you personally for a bug that appears to be affecting a great many bloggers here.
I flagged this thread for staff attention. If your blog is affected, make a post here noting the exact URL and then wait to hear back from staff.

Similar problem here, but not the same.
My non-WordPress followers are being counted, but my WordPress followers are not. I have 330 WP followers, and 39 followers via email (and 2,004 Facebook), and they still show in my-stats/?blog_subscribers, but the total on the Stats page (and the widget on the actual blog) only show the 39+2004.
This just happened about 15 minutes ago. I’m hoping it would go back to normal in a bit, but since this thread is going on, I thought I’d report it too.

I just lost every single one of my 195 wordpress followers, (my 6 email followers remain) about 30 minutes ago. My blog is litebeingchronicles at http://lindalitebeing.wordpress.com
I am hoping this is just a glitch, but since there is a thread I wanted to bring this to your attention.

Happened to my site as well. Had 352 blog followers at around 6pm and now it’s down to 128.

This is not the case on mine. Interesting. I have domain mapping, I wonder if that is what is making the difference?

I just noticed the same addition problem of my blog followers for http://customstyle.wordpress.com/
My WP followers are showing as the total in stats and on my blog’s sidebar count but the email subscribers are missing. Everyone is still listed when I go to “site stats >> followers”. It doesn’t appear that I’ve lost anyone, just the addition is off.
Not a huge deal but slightly annoying.
