sudden increase in followers

    As of today I noticed a sudden and unexplained increase in followers. As much as I like to see my follower count go up, this is a bit strange. Could you check into it for me?

    Hello Sevi,

    I took a look at your WordPress.com subscribers…and those with WordPress.com account do appear to be valid.

    I also see that you have some recent email follower signups. I cannot attest to the validity of these folks, since they don’t have WordPress.com accounts.

    Let’s keep an eye out for any suspicious behavior from these followers. If they started to comment on your site, and you are wary of them, I do recommend taking action to keep their presence from interrupting your site.

    Since public WordPress.com sites can be followed by anyone online, we cannot remove them from your followers list…especially if they seem to be behaving.

    Thank you so much for your reply Robyn. I will certainly keep an eye on it. They all seem to be Yahoo adresses which made me think there is some sort of autobot thing going on? Anyway, they are indeed behaving ;-) so for now I ‘ll stop worrying about it.

    I agree…the yahoo addresses make me suspicious of a bot. But I will be satisfied if they remain quiet and don’t cause trouble for you.
