Sudden Increase of unpromted New User Registrations

  There has been a sudden increase of New User Registrations. How do I stop this? What does this mean?

  +1 same thing is happening here. All accounts are in the format firstnameNumber with email (email visible only to moderators and staff) where domain.com is usually yahoo but can be different.
