Sudden limits in photo editing
-
What happened to my photo editing functions? I can no long specifically alter photo size, or move them around. This is maddening and highly impractical for an image-important blog.

The change was made some time ago now https://en.blog.wordpress.com/2015/11/16/new-high-speed-editor/
The feedback thread is here https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/editor-feedback?replies=749That’s a known issue in the new editor that does not exist in the classic editor. You cannot deactivate the new Beep Beep Boop editor but you do not have to use it. For locating the ways and means of accessing the legacy or classic pages for creating posts, editing posts, and for viewing stats see here > Navigating the Classic WordPress.COM interface http://onecoolsite.wordpress.com/2015/04/05/navigating-the-classic-wordpress-com-interface/

This is unrelated to your issue but I also note that you are using a very old retired theme ie. Misty Look. Themes are retired because they do not support all wordpress.com features. The recommendation is to switch themes and that’s easy to do.
Themes are just “skins” on WordPress.COM hosted blogs. You can quickly and easily change themes on any WordPress.COM hosted blog to another one found here http://wordpress.com/themes/ and no data will be lost or negatively affected by the change. The only time you may have to do some work is if you are changing to a dramatically different theme and have done any CSS editing.
Provided you are logged in as Admin under the same username account that registered the blog go to Dashboard > Appearance > Themes, Browse themes until you find one you like and click the “activate” or the “preview” link, or type in the name of the theme you want to use when it appears.
The theme customizer https://en.support.wordpress.com/customizer/ provides a preview function for exactly that purpose ie. so you can view what a theme will appear like prior to changing one.
Note that every theme will have a detailed theme description page with set up instructions and a live demo site page that you can consult. Here’s an example:

http://fontfoliodemo.wordpress.com/Why don’t you try previewing one of these themes?

Hi timethief, thanks so much for your reply. I was not referring to my old blog which uses Misty theme (sorry – it didn’t occur to me someone might look at that one). My current blog called Let Me Illustrate My Point uses Zuki, purchased earlier this year.
I was able to chat with someone from WordPress who confirmed that they have been updating the image editing options in order to streamline them, a process that needed to happen to avoid future ineffectiveness. They expect this work to go on roughly for a few more months, and I was given a link to the old editor to work with in the meantime.
I understand these things need to happen. My gripe at this point is not being told in advance when things are being tinkered with. A simple email notifying users of what to expect and how to work around it in the meantime. It would save the users hours of frustration to know in advance instead of finding out in the middle of a project.
That said, I appreciate your taking the time to respond!

I forgot to mention – I was assured all the editing functions I am used to will return once they deploy the final version of their update process.
