Sudden Media upload problem (never happened before in a year)

hello, I’ve been keeping this blog for a year and now suddenly I’m receiving error messages when uploading photo files from my computer. They say the images exceed maximum upload for this site. This has never happened before. An example of a photo file size I’m trying to upload and always have been able to before is 3.5 MB. I’ve been experimenting with size and the only way I can upload is to choose the lowest JPEG quality and smallest image size which looks terrible on my photo heavy blog. Please advise. Very frustrated.

With your blog at WordPress.com, the blog has a 3 GB of space included for free. You can see your limit either in the “At a Glance” box on your dashboard at http://todirtwithlove.wordpress.com/wp-admin/ or on the Media Library page at https://todirtwithlove.wordpress.com/wp-admin/upload.php
You can add more space with one of our Space Upgrades.
