SUDDENLY CAN’T UPLOAD IMAGE INTO POST FROM MY COMPUTER
-
I have a Mac OS10.4. I have been inserting images into my blog previously. They have all been images from other blogs which I have copied into pages, then exported from pages into a pdf file residing on my desktop. PDF is the only choice as there as no jpegs, jpg’s etc.
What happens is that when I upload the silly pdf files is listed in my media library as an attachment and I can see no way of changing that to an image.
What has suddenly changed ?
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

I’ve never know of such feature – so I don’t think you can. Unless staff were off tinkering again.

PDFs don’t, and never have, displayed as images on a WordPress.com blog. You can use a graphics program to convert PDFs into JPGs. And sometimes, just renaming Whatever.pdf to Whatever.jpg will enable you to upload it as an image here which displays.

Thanks raincoaster for the advice.
What puzzles me is that something has changed as I quite happily uploaded images previously without this need for conversion.
What I think must have happened is someone, somewhere along the line has changed some software. Probably Apple in a recent systems or safari update so that whereas previously images were saved as jpg or jpeg’s, that option now seems to have vanished, leaving only pdf’s html etc.
I have noticed many people complaining about this problem !

Ah, that may be the case. I’ve never used Safari. But I have seen the posts about embedding PDFs, and the staff responses, and staff says use Scribd if you want to display them as images.

@rocketone: To copy an image, you just drag it to your desktop. If the original is a jpg, you get a jpg.
