Suddenly, Media Library upload has stopped working
-
Could I ask for help investigating a strange error, please?
I have a WordPress site on an external service – swpics.co.uk. It has been working perfectly, until midway through a post update last night. I had been uploading .jpg images and displaying them in my post OK. Then I uploaded a .mp4 file – not large, only 19MB – and specified that it should be played with the media player.
Ever since then, any media upload I try to my Media Library (.jpg or .mp4) does not work. The upload proceeds but the thumbnail display in the Media Library is blank, and there is no information in the File Size. A direct link to the image’s URL produces a blank page.
Can anyone tell me what’s going on, please? The main reason I am puzzled is because everything was working perfectly in the session until the mp4 upload, after which the Media Library upload suddenly doesn’t work.

Hi, to help you troubleshoot that issue, we would need access to your site. Since the site is not hosted on our platform (WordPress.com), it’s hard to help.
The good news is that help is available at the open-source WordPress forums:
https://wordpress.org/support/forum/how-to-and-troubleshooting/
The folks in that forum are more familiar with these kinds of issues and are in the best position to help.
If you continue to have issues, you may want to consider migrating your site here on WordPress.com. We have several plans to choose from.
If you want to know more, I’m happy to answer any questions you have, and since you already use WordPress for your current website, you can use our simple migration tool to move it here.
