Suddenly my images don’t enlarge
-
Hi. Suddenly my images don’t enlarge when you click on them. This is the case with newly-posted images, not old ones. I haven’t changed any settings. Any ideas?

Make sure to click the File URL or Post URL button before you click the Insert into Post button. Once you’ve done this, your choice will be remembered for next time.

Previously there was an option to set the default link behavior in Media->Settings. That option has been removed because WordPress now saves your status and will default to whatever you last selected. So to start off, the default is no link. Once you use File URL, that will be your default until you use None or Post URL in that area.

Is this some change to do with the new design? Incidentally, I can see extremely few real improvements in that — it looks a bit nicer, for sure.

Or does “File URL” do that? I can get my images to enlarge with the advanced settings “link to image”
So my question must be: is File URL the same as link to image? I think link to image used to be the default… or perhaps a setting I made?

That’s what file URL does. The flash uploader has always called the link to the image the “file URL.”
-
And link to image used to be the default BEFORE the introduction of the new Media Settings half a year ago: then the default became no link, and you had to go to Settings>Media to permanently change it.

Many thank-you’s to thesacredpath & panaghiotisadam
I’ve been around long enough to remember the difficult change 6 or so months ago.
This one is so much better. More logical.
