Sugestion about Last.fm widget
-
Last.fm is a superb site. Would it be great if wordpress could add some of their playlist or radio widgets? Some blogs support embeding this kind of widgets. It would be great :-)

Send feedback to staff with the feature request. Include the reasons why you think it would be an awesome idea.

@kazik
While you are waiting are you aware of this? http://wordpress.com/blog/2007/04/23/boxnet-filesharing-widget/{wave to katm}

box.net is pretty different from last.fm.
last.fm charts still work just fine in text widgets, although it’s getting harder to find them on the site: http://www.last.fm/tools/charts/red
but yes, it would be stellar if their playable badges worked. they have a much larger library than sonific, and it’s far more personal.
-
also, the personal radio link only works for subscribers, (who presumably have the software installed), so you could just use a regular link to your radio:
lastfm://user/sunburntkamel/recommendation/
or some such. -
It’s the new feature from last.fm. It’s a widget playlist chart which you can also ‘click n play’ the songs listed in the chart. You can basically play thousands of music depending on the favourite tags you choose.
Box.net is a file sharing which I prefer at the moment but the last.fm playlist widget is something to look forward to.
“but yes, it would be stellar if their playable badges worked. they have a much larger library than sonific, and it’s far more personal.”
I agree.

Last.fm is a free service that keeps track of what music you listen to, and then produces a large number of features personalised to you.You can use Last.fm to listen to music, find out about artists you may like, other people with similar music taste, gigs in your local area, charts and quilts for your personal site, as well as much more.
It sounds like an interesting widget addition that many bloggers, maybe even me, would really like to have. +1
-
you should also drop a suggestion in last.fm’s ideas forum:
http://www.last.fm/forum/21717they’re pretty open to working with anyone who wants to work with them.

Thanks for pointing out the old link. I was having a hard time finding it for some reason.

I have the old chart-style listing on my site – and here’s a reminder of how to do it:

The new widgets on last fm are much better, though not yet available on WordPress.com, so I’ve posted a feedback and dropped a note at last fm asking for them to be made available on WP.com
Last fm is a great site, so I hope that this proves possible, very soon.

Actually tellyworth has a yellow background behind his comment. That makes him staff (Alex, I presume). So, maybe he’s looking for a project and asking about lastfm widget preferences in sort of “undercover” way. ;)

That’s me, smoking a cigarette under a dim streetlamp in the inconspicuous yellow trenchcoat.
And yes, I meant: hypothetically, if wordpress.com did happen to support a last.fm widget, which would be most useful?
-
I think recent songs played would be good, as the content remains fairly dynamic, as opposed to top artists etc which tend to remain the same.
-
i’m a fan of the quilt (overall top albums), since recent tracks can be fetched out of RSS fairly reliably, and weekly top artists works with the old style charts (content only changes once a week, so caching isn’t a big deal).
that or the radio/playlist widget are the two hardest to replicate any other way. -
I wold like to see “Recently Listened Tracks” and “my radio station”.
One our the two, so you can have a option to chose from.
I still have the old widget, but it stop working, shame…
Just hope it works again.
Even the old one, wile the new wont work ;) -
