Suggest Additional HTML Code
-
I would like to edit the colour of text in the sidebar text widget. I was using the following snippet:
Your text here
This works as long as I don’t use another colour, such as #303030, at which point the code is stripped out.
… for some reason they suggest here (https://en.support.wordpress.com/code/) that I contact WordPress, but it doesn’t seem to be possible to do more than post in the forum. So here we are.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

What is the exact URL starting with http:// of the site you refer to please?
I’m asking because we cannot accurately answer questions posted here until we have confirmed the URL referred to and verified the hosting.

It’s a WordPress.com site.
https://evansandercock.wordpress.com
Is that what you need to know?
Thanks.

If you are referring only to the text inside of your posts and pages you can make some changes without an annually renewable upgrade.
For changing font families, colors and size in text in posts or pages either post by post or page by page by coding into the Text ie. HTML editor see http://wpbtips.wordpress.com/2009/07/11/formatting-text-pt-5/
For changing font colors in text in posts or pages either post by post or page by page using the #4 icon (Select text color – change the text color) in Row 2 the Visual editor. http://en.support.wordpress.com/visual-editor/#row-2
To display the second row of icons, first select the toolbar toggle icon at the end of row 1 and click it. https://i0.wp.com/en.support.files.wordpress.com/2009/08/kitchensink.png
Then see here https://en.support.wordpress.com/visual-editor/#text-colorHowever, if you want to make any font changes to blog titles or widget titles then you need the premium upgrade bundle that includes the custom design upgrade in it. See here for details on purchasing the annually renewable Premium bundle http://store.wordpress.com/plans/premium/ that contains a custom design upgrade required for CSS editing:
Custom design – Frequently Asked Questions

You can also post there prior to purchasing an upgrade to get an answer to whether or not what you want to do can be accomplished via CSS editing.

Hi, I want to change the font only on the first line of my homepage. I tried this:
<p style=”font-family: LTC Bodoni 175;”>Loan Some Serials Collection</p>
but it didn’t work. Can you correct what I’m doing wrong?
Thanks -

@zaplite: your code should work inside a Text Widget. Can you tell me where I can see this code not working for you? I’ve tried variants of it on my test site, and they all worked well without getting stripped:
<p style='color:#808080;'>Your text here</p> <p style='color:#303030;'>Your text here</p> <p style='color:red;'>Your text here</p> -
@serealities: The code should work if you have the LTC Bodoni font active in the Site Customizer, and structure the HTML way:
<p style='font-family: ltc-bodoni-175;' >Loan Some Serials Collection</p> -
Okay, that’s really weird. I tried what I posted in my original question several times before posting to verify that this was an actual problem and not a typing error. Just now I pasted into the same text box exactly what druesome recommended, and it worked fine! I tried it on another WordPress site I have co-authored and it worked on there as well.
So, no idea what’s going on there — probably user error somehow :P — and thank you very much for your help.
