Suggestion for Livro: Post Excerpts and Featured Images on Post Pages

    I’ve been using the theme Livro but I have a conundrum: it doesn’t have post excerpts 😬

    I don’t know why this design choice was picked. Please, can post excerpts be added to this theme? Or, if you don’t want to mess with the theme’s code, allow the Post Template block to have “use except” and “use featured images” as a toggle.

    Never mind! I got it to work. Apparently the Read More block glitched out. I saw that Read More worked on Scrawl. When was editing a post (by now I had the Scrawl theme), it said Read More was unsupported. I re-inserted it, deleted the unsupported block and now excepts work!

    However, I still think the featured images suggestion should be considered, for Livro and Scrawl.

    Hi there,

    The Post Template block is just a container block for the post content, and if you want it to display the featured image and/or excerpt for posts, you can just add those blocks inside the Post Template block. In other words, no modification is needed to the theme itself, as you have complete control over this via the site editor.

    Go to Appearance ->Editor, click the template name at the top, click Browse all templates, and select Home.

    Once your Home page layout appears, click the three horizontal lines in the menu top-left to expand the block list panel.

    Find the Post Template block, and under that, click on the Post block, then click the + icon.

    Search for the block “Post Featured Image”, and click on it to insert it. Then go back to the list view. You should see something like this:

    Now just drag the block up to where you want the featured image to appear – most people go with either just above or just below the title, but it’s entirely up to you :)
