Suggestion: Google Translate widget
-
Hi. I’m a moderator for both the French and Spanish WordPress.com forums and we frequently get asked how to add a Google Translate widget.
I don’t want to debate whether it’s okay to offer automatic translation, but clearly, there is a huge demand for this widget, and some bloggers don’t want to spend time tweaking HTML code.
Please consider adding a Google Translate widget, even if it’s just a very basic link to Google Translate without all the bells and whistles. It will help everyone (staff, volunteers AND bloggers alike). Thank you!

Timethief has a way of doing translations on her site – some code but she provides a template

I’ve tagged this for Staff (as they have requested) so to keep track of feature requests.

We’re keeping track of this for future updates, but for now, it’s best to include links to the Google Translate results.

Thanks for the response. I’ll post this below for others who use tag search.
Automatic translation is not available for WordPress.com blogs at this time. We bloggers do not have FTP access to blogs hosted by WordPress.COM and we bloggers cannot install any plugins, we cannot use Microsoft or Google translation widgets or any others, as they are JavaScript and it’s stripped out to preserve security on this multiuser blogging platform. http://en.support.wordpress.com/code/
http://en.support.wordpress.com/code/#javascriptHowever, I have translation on my WordPress.com blogs. There are two workarounds and you will find them here > http://onecoolsite.wordpress.com/2011/02/14/translation-widget-for-wordpress-com-blogs/
Note: You can create a page https://en.support.wordpress.com/pages/ then and copy and paste the code on my Translations page here http://onecoolsite.wordpress.com/translation/ Be sure to replace every occurrence of my blog’s URL in the code with your own blog’s URL.
If you are bilingual or multilingual and want to publish your free hosted WordPress.com in two or more languages but do not want to rely on machine translation that can be done see here > http://onecoolsite.wordpress.com/2013/02/25/wordpress-com-multilingual-blogs/
and here https://en.support.wordpress.com/set-up-a-multilingual-blog/Also note that there are browser add-ons we can use to translate sites:
