Suggestion re new block editor

How about letting users rearrange the elements on the new editing page (like we used to do)? There are so many options, so much to sort through. Would it be possible to let users move the features they use the most to the top and/or hide those features they don’t want to use? For example, all the items relating to a monetized site are above the options for images and everything else. My blog isn’t monetized and I’ve no plans to change that. For me the basics are entering a head, image(s), and some text. I’d like all the options for those things to be front and center, above everything else.

Maybe all this is possible and I’ve just overlooked it. The block editor is still a very new experience.

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

  • Hi there!

Are you referring to the list of Blocks that appears when you click on the + sign on the top left?
The Text and Media blocks display on the top, above the Earn and Grow group form me.
If you click on the + button directly in the post, you should see the blocks you used most lately.

It would be great if you could send us a screenshot of what you see. You can use an online tool for that (such as https://snipboard.io/) and paste the link into your reply.
Also, remember that with your plan you can access Live Chat directly via https://wordpress.com/help/contact. That way you can get help faster.

Thanks for your reply. At some point last night I figured out the “most used” thing. I wish it had room for more than just six items, but it certainly helps.

Hi @windwhistle – You can also manage what blocks appear in the Block Manager to just the blocks you need and use. (screenshot)

When in your post or page, click on the Ellipsis at the top right corner of the Block Editor and then click on “Block Manager” under TOOLS (see screenshot 01)

In the next pop-up window that opens, you can uncheck all the blocks that are not relevant for you either by unchecking individual blocks or entire sections by unchecking the box next to the section heading (see screenshot 02)

Unchecking that box doesn’t delete the block; it only removes it from view and you can always re-enable the block later if you decide to use it by checking the box again.

Hope that helps but post back here if you have any questions about this.
