  I had an important suggestion.

  Sometimes I wish I could contact other authors in WordPress by just messaging them. You don’t have this feature. Sure, I have an email address associated with the blog that people can contact, but not everybody has one set up like that. And besides, as an author, I would prefer to have another direct and exclusive line of contact with other authors so we can collaborate, or just send each other thoughts and compliments. Think about adding a feature like this.

  Hi, cgaymer. That’s a good suggestion. It would be nice to connect with other authors quickly and privately. Maybe that is something that will be added in the future (we can hope).

  I have had success doing this- and I understand that it won’t work for everyone- is by reaching out via an author’s social media sites. Many have links to Twitter, Facebook, or Instagram available in their sidebars or on their bios. You can send them private messages through those sites.

  Additionally, some may have a contact form on a “Contact Us” page or “About” page that I use to send messages that way. Lastly, I try to comment on posts that I like and let the author know that I am interested in doing a collab.

  Yes, I advocate to everyone to create a “Contact” page on their blog so that anyone can reach out to you. If such a person does not have that page, then you can always leave a comment under one of their posts asking what would be the best way to contact them.

  I like your idea, but there are ways around it, so I’m not sure if they would consider adding a “mailbox” to your dashboard.

  We have a single chatbox widget that will operate on WordPress.COM hosted sites. The Tlk.io widget allows you to embed a web chat in your WordPress.COM hosted blog. http://en.support.wordpress.com/widgets/tlk-io-widget/ There are no other chat options I know of that work on WordPress.COM blogs at this time unless you have a Business plan that provides the ability to use additional third party plugins.
