Suggestions for Password Protected Content?

Hi! I’m new to WordPress and I tried looking at some previous posts in the forums but can’t quite seem to find this answer, so please forgive me if it exists somewhere already.
I’m attempting to re-design my parents’ website for their video production company and I’d like to add password protected content that can be accessed on the backend of the site, BUT, I would like it to be configured so that we can choose which videos they share, not so that the entire backend and all the videos can be seen once the password has been entered.
I would also like to avoid the need for different passwords for each video so that access stays restricted and safe, but simple.
Is this a feature available to me through certain plug-ins, or should I look into buying a specific theme with this feature? I’m researching themes now and I would like to know this answer before we make a purchase.
Any advice on this issue would be very helpful. Thank you.

has everything to do – for starters you can’t instal Plugin’s at WordPress.COM – nor can you upload an outside third party theme here – security, performance and reliability issues
