Suggestions for "Stay"-like Theme

  Howdy,

  Since the Stay theme https://staydemo.wordpress.com/ has been retired, can someone suggest another theme to replace it?

  Features should include a front page slider with a direct link to the relevant page as well as a “reservation” contact widget with calendar.

  Barring a specific theme, a tutorial for B&B’s would be great to see among the current collection here: https://en.support.wordpress.com/category/site-tutorials/

  There aren’t any plans to introduce another theme similar to Stay. I don’t see any free themes with those features by default.

  Now, this could all change once Gutenberg is in place and more block-like editing is possible. Things are always changing ;)

  I’ll see about the video tutorial.

  Thanks staff-zinnia – Thanks for looking. I’m a bit confused because I understood that at this point in time Gutenberg would only be enabled for the Post/Page Editor and not themes. Regardless, thanks for looking into a site set-up tutorial for B&Bs.

  Hello again. Other possible themes… not perfect but…
  Ixion (free)
  Veni
  Radiate

  I see that one can build a contact form with a Date field in WP Admin, but this field isn’t available in the My Sites contact form creator. It would help if it were, but the results are not as nicely done as the Stay reservation widget.

  How would one go about displaying that form in the menu like on the Stay demo?

  Jennifer, I’ve alerted the developers to the Date field type not being in the My Sites contact form creator. Thanks for reporting it.

  You can create a page with that form on it of course, and then include that page in the navigation, but to have the form open/show at the menu location when you clicked on the label, isn’t possible. It would require JavaScript or something similar.

  Alrighty, then. Github thread closed by @lance. I’ll just go ahead and keep using the WP Admin Editor as long as we can to create the contact form with the Date field. Thanks all.
