suggestions on site theme

  • Unknown's avatar

I am starting a mental health blog. I would appreciate feedback and suggestions.

I am looking for a theme that is not simply black and white on the page, but not too bright color wise. I liked and tried to use “publication” but when I saved my photo, rather than becoming big on the page like the demo photo, its a little tiny photo at the top.

I would like my blog to be able to have multiple pages, for example, some of my topics might be:

    1) medication
    2) diet
    3) exercise
    4) employment
    5) dating
    6) raising children
    7) marriage
    8) SSDI

A page dedicated to different disorders such as depression, bipolar, anxiety etc.

I would also like to monetize by having local therapists takes ads, embed pay per view/click, adsense etc.

I’d like to also capture email addresses.
    Any assistance is greatly appreciated

The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

    Hi,

I liked and tried to use “publication” but when I saved my photo, rather than becoming big on the page like the demo photo, its a little tiny photo at the top.

The full width image at the top of the Publication theme demo is a featured image attached to the most recent post. The Publication theme guide suggests the dimensions 2000 x 1500 pixels for featured images, though in this case the featured image is 2000 x 1330.

You can have as many pages as you want on any WordPress.com theme, but there’s a difference between static pages and dynamic category pages. If you want posts to be assigned to one or more of those categories, then you’ll want to create category pages, and use a custom menu to link to them. Again, this can be accomplished on any WP.com theme.

I’d like to also capture email addresses.

I believe this might require a plugin. Plugins may be added to self-hosted WordPress.org sites but not to WordPress.com sites.

See the Advertising support page for suggested options, but note that ads from Google Adsense and other third-party advertisement networks are not allowed.

Advertisements, including those from third-party advertising networks like Google AdSense, OpenX, Lijit, BuySellAds, and Vibrant Media are not allowed WordPress.com.
