Suggestions to make my blog more interactive
-
Hi,
I feel that my blog is doing well in terms of visitors and followers, but I get very few comments. I follow other blogs that consistently have a lot of comment activity. I’d really like to interact more with my readers, but I’m stumped on what to do.I’d appreciate any suggestions on how to encourage dialogue and (if you feel like checking out my blog) anything that I may be doing wrong or that inadvertently discourages comments.
Thanks in advance for your help!

Ooh, good question!
One tactic I’ve seen a lot is to end every blog post with a relevant question, opening up the conversation for your readers to participate in. For example, if you’re writing about a problem you’ve been struggling with, ask your readers to share similar problems they’ve had or to offer advice on the problem, or if you’re writing about a new recipe you’ve tried, ask your readers what recipes they like best, or if there’s any other recipes they’d like to see you do. You could also try throwing polls into a few of your posts – most people will just select an option and move on, but some may feel the need to elaborate more on their answer in the comments section.
Another piece of advice I’ve seen offered a lot is to make sure that your blog posts have enough emotion in them – write with passion about subjects that your audience is also passionate about. People are more likely to want to put their two cents in if what they read resonates deeply with them, rather than if they just enjoy reading it but feel emotionally free to move on.
I found a couple more articles with some more in-depth advice for you over at Lifehack, SmartBlogger, and QuickSprout. Take a look and let me know what you think!
