Suidden changes to display for archive.org ebooks
-
I’m in the middle of creating a substantial web archive hosted at wordpress.com but linking to material on other sites, including a large number of scanned multi-page documents housed at archive.org.
Until about a week ago, these displayed just as they appear on the archive.org site – with a double-page spread in which facing pages animate to turn over meaning there are two pages within the linked block at any one time. This is exactly what I want.
A week or so back something changed and globally within my site they all now show as single pages with a scroll bar on the right of the box. It wasn’t a change I initiated myself – I don’t think!
What do I need to do in order to revert to how things appeared when I began to lay out the site and restore the two-page display?
Thanks in advance for any advice
Andrew

Hi Andrew, could you send links to a few posts that used to work as anticipated? We’ll take a look.

Hi – and many thanks for your reply!
The change a week-or-so ago was sudden and global – all the pages on the site that link to my Archive.org uploads suddenly changed from displaying the embedded ebook content as it STILL displays at archive.org (double-page spreads with animated page-turns) to single-page with a scroll bar down the right hand side. A few examples are:
and
although like I say, the change is global across all items on the site which link to archive.org content. I’d really like to return things to how they were.
If you click-through on the title of embedded content, it takes you to the archive.org page where you can see it as it is intended
Many thanks in advance for help and advice

Hm, we didn’t make any changes on our end, but it is possible that the Internet Archive changed how their embeds operate.
We’ll look into this.

Is there any update on this yet?
Is there anything I can do to help or hurry things along?
Many thanks in advance

This is overall a change in how The Internet Archive’s embeds operate, so it’s not something we’ll be able to adjust on our end.
