summaries of posts on homepage

  Hello, I’m trying to get posts on homepage to only show snippet of content. I’ve selected the “summary” vs “full text” button in the reader options, but it’s still showing my entire post. How do I get it to be only a summary? Ideally, I’d also like the home page to be a static page where I can highlight the latest post and make announcements, etc., but I’m having trouble figuring out how to do that in this theme… thoughts on either of these is appreciated.

  Hi there,

  The setting which you found (summary vs full text) actually applies to your site’s RSS feed rather than your home page’s posts. Some themes do what you’re looking for automatically (create excerpts from each post and display them on the home page), however if you really like the theme which you have, you can work around the fact that it doesn’t automatically do it by creating those excerpts yourself using the More tag:
