Summaries on page of posts & categories
-
Apologies in advance if this has already been posted / answered.
I am attempting to show post summaries (only) when showing a page of posts on the front of my blog, or when viewing all the posts in a particular category. I selected the Reading option to show summaries in the post feeds, but it didn’t change anything.
Any advice would be appreciated.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

No, that summary setting is only for feeds, not for how posts are displayed on the front page or category/archive pages.
In any theme you can use the “more” tag:

With the theme “adventure Journal,” you can create custom excerpts for category/archive pages:

and

Oops, I forgot, the custom excerpt feature is being eliminated on most themes:

Is the “More” Tag still being supported? That’ll still get me (more or less) what I’m looking for.
Much more manual than I had hoped, but sometimes that’s how the cookie crumbles.
Thanks,

Hi Doug,
Yes, the more tag is supported. And unfortunately there is not bulk edit function to use, so it will be an exercise of manual (well individual post) work. Get a book on CD, a movie on DVD, or some good music… Sorry for the bad news, but it will work.
