G’day
Your is a private blog and private blogs do not have rss feeds. If they did they would not be “private”. -
reference: If you choose to make your blog “be visible only to users [you] choose” (password protect your whole blog) you cannot offer an RSS feed.

ok thanks. i didn’t know rss and summaries went together. i thought a summary was just a presentation option for the front page :)

There is no “summary” option for posts, but you can truncate them (split them so only a part of them shows on the front page). You do this using the More tab if you’re doing your own coding, or you can use the icon which is a dotted line across a page if you’re using the visual editor. Just put your cursor where you want the split to be and click the icon.

No the summary option it’s only for rss feeds. If you want to truncate your posts you can use icon 13 for the “read more” tag to be inserted. http://faq.wordpress.com/2006/05/15/what-do-all-the-icons-mean/
And, if you want to establish a free post notification update list for your “be only visible to users {you] choose” you can do this here http://www.coollist.com/
