summary statistics for likes?
-
Hi,
Is there a way of obtaining summary statistics for likes, as there are for views? I can’t find anything in the support site, or the forums.Ever since the main changes to reader a while back I have “lost” 1/3 of my views. I am looking for ways to judge which of my posts go over the best and likes seems to be the only way of access those views that don’t register thanks to viewers using only the reader (as I write, today’s post has 27 likes but only 13 registered views). So, summary stats of likes would help me analyse viewer response, even if they have not “viewed” my post – it is usually a single photograph that they can see in the reader so coming into the post is often not necessary to view it.
Thanks for any help you can give on this. And, if there is not an existing way of doing this then maybe your wizards will consider conjuring one up.
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

Hello!
I am not sure about likes and maybe others can jump in regarding stats on likes.
I do know that Google changed part of their search algorithms around the time of the new editor. Which might, in part, explain the drop.

May I please inform you a bit further on this?
Our stats are not real time stats. For details see here http://en.support.wordpress.com/stats/ and note the views and viewers take hours to update. Provided you are logged in when visiting, your own views are not recorded on any public blog you registered.
Our stats are page view stats. Please do not assume that everyone who clicks a like button, follows your blog, reblogs a post or shares a link to one actually reads the post on your blog because odds are they may not do so. Also be aware that there are like button clickers who click only to get your traffic to click back to their sites.
It’s also important to note that those who follow your blog in the Reader or by email don’t have to click into the blog unless they wish to. And, they can even comment on your posts without clicking into the blog either.
Likes and shares and comments and reblogs and follows are not page views. In fact, likes, shares, comments and reblogs are completely misleading when you are talking about page view stats.
Your followers and anyone with a WordPress.com/Gravatar account who is logged into WordPress.com can “follow” your blog, “like”, “share” and “reblog” your posts in several locations such as the Reader, without ever clicking into your blog and creating a single page view stat.
Logged in visitors using a mobile can read the full post without creating a page view stat. https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/wordpresscom-reader-show-full-text?replies=31#post-1373606
You can control the length of the entry sent out on your RSS feed here Dashboard > Settings > Reading. Choose the “summary” setting for your RSS feed rather than to “full text”. That will compel followers who are not using mobiles to click into the blog to read the full post which will create a page view stat.

Hi timethief (and pcosta88) – I am aware of all those things – I have been blogging for 3 years now, posting every day, and try to pay attention to such details.
The vast majority of my likes are from followers and repeat visitors.
Also, I always insert a More line in my post which I believe has the same or similar effect in the reader version as the summary setting you mention – but I will look more at that however and thanks for the suggestion.
Even while views vs likes vs countries viewing and so on are not real time, I still find over time that I often have more likes registered on a post than I have views. I attribute this to the reader. Part of my evidence for that is I lost 2000 views per month after the reader was changed. Since I was only getting a few dozen views from google searches I don’t think it was related to their changes.
In any case, how about the idea of some summary stats on likes? That was the point of my post.

I apologize for not checking into how long you have blogged here and answering your direct question.

I can’t find anything like that either. Sorry again. I’ve been here for over 8 years and likes were only introduced in 2010, so I don’t pay much attention to theme as many of my posts are evergreen content posts. I do know that likes are not transferable when moving to a WordPress.ORG install.
