Summary versus full blog post view
-
Hi, I just upgraded form Twenty Ten to Twenty Eleven and it seems that this has changed my reading setting under each category from summary (which worked really well in Twenty Ten) to full post view. How do I change this back?
Tnx,

Hi there!
Go to Settings -> Reading and next to “For each article in a feed, show” check “summary” and save.
That should take care of it! Let me know if you have any questions.

Hi, unfortunately this only affects the rss feeds email notification to my followers. But on the blog itself, when entering a category, the articles under that category used to appear in summary format…now they appear in full format like in the main feed on the blog. Example attached here:

Thanks for that link!
The category and archives pages vary from theme to theme. It looks like Twenty Ten had excerpts for its category pages and Twenty Eleven has full posts.
There’s a couple of options you can try:
If you want to continue using Twenty Eleven, you can use the read-more tag in your posts:
http://en.support.wordpress.com/splitting-content/more-tag/Please note this will change how your posts display everywhere on your site, not just on category/archive pages.
Alternatively, you can switch to a theme that automatically displays beginnings or titles on category pages – there’s a list at this site that shows the themes as of December 2012:
http://wpbtips.wordpress.com/2009/03/25/full-posts-in-archive-pages/I hope that clarifies things! Let me know if you have any questions.
