Sunspot theme: italics and links

Loving the new Sunspot theme. Eyecatching and professional.

However there seems to be a problem with the way italic text sits in a post. The spacing between the end of italic and beginning of normal text isn’t in correct proportion. Adding an   gives the correct spacing, but I wouldn’t like to be manually applying that solution to four years of posts…

Also, a question. Links in the main body and the right-hand widget area show up in bright gold. Looks great, and makes the links obvious. Links in the left-hand widget area are the same colour as text, but with less weight. Much harder to spot. This seems like a design choice, but is a rethink possible? Consistent gold might be better. I have never used a new theme before so am unclear as to what observations are valid. If this is not a reasonable suggestion please ignore :)

I haven’t really noticed that much difference between both my left and right side widgets as far as the colors are concerned but I will say overall though I really love the new theme (Sunspot) even with it’s minute differences. Already some have told me they are impressed with the quality of my pages over all and a drastic improvement in readability.

  • Hi ratinthebookpile,

Thanks for your observations. There was no special treatment applied to italics for this theme. The spacing may look the way it does due to the nature of the body font. I will investigate this a little further, and if we decide to make any changes, I’ll let you know.

You are correct, the sidebar link color was a design decision, and there are no plans to change them at this time.

However, you can change both of these things with CSS, available through the Custom Design upgrade.
