Sunspot Theme Question
-
With the “upgrade” from Sunburn, which I loved, to Sunspot, one thing changed that I cannot figure out.
The main body of my post’s text suddenly has two different colors for the font. The white, which I prefer, and a baby blue, which I sort of detest.
Is there a way to make the text font only white?
Thanks!

The blue formatting has been either added manually or copied over from another source when pasting content, as you can see if you switch from the Visual to the HTML editor:
<span style="color:#3d596d;"> <span style="font-family:Merriweather, Georgia, 'Times New Roman', Times, serif;"> <span style="font-size:small;">The translation of Hayallah is basically, “Allah (God) is in the room”, which certainly lends credence to the idea of it being a mystical, religious rhythm. I find that I can get the feel of it if I simply picture myself in a warm room, with some chanting in the background, and becoming just that dangerously little bit sleepy.</span> </span> </span>It’s not part of the theme, so you can just remove all those span tags (and their closing partners) to get rid of the stray formatting.
If you paste content from another source, try using the “paste as plain text” button in the editor to make sure this doesn’t happen again.

timethief – There’s no need for custom CSS or purchase of a plan in this case since the blue colour isn’t in the theme but was added by the user. :)

Thanks, let me see if I can figure it out.
I write my posts on my PC, and copy/paste them over, so I am sure that is what is going on.
If not, I will be back to beg for more help.
Much appreciated!

As long as you write them in a plain-text format – such as Notepad in plain-text mode (.txt) – you shouldn’t have any issues when pasting, but the “paste as text” button is always a good fallback just in case. :)
Just let us know if you need further help!

Yeah, the biggest issue I have is the “tables”, which I am using a rhythm tabulation.
Apparently the PC I was using originally didn’t have an issue during cut and paste, but the new PC does…
>.<
Lots of <span> spam to clean up… I will try it with the paste as text, and see if it formats correctly.
Thanks again!

Thanks again.
The work around is simply to post the text as plain text, and then cut and paste the tables individually, having un-toggled the plain text button.
Is there a theme supports the table idea more simply?
-
This isn’t a theme issue but rather a WordPress editor issue; you’d see the same issue with formatting carried over from another source when running any theme, and when running a self-hosted WordPress install.
Few thoughts:
– could you copy over your content in chunks, with the non-tables pasted as plain text and the tables pasted regularly?
– could you try not changing the default formatting in your document (are you in Word?) and see if that causes no colours or fonts to be carried over? -
I use open office as my document program.
I use “Default” formatting on that program, and had no issues previously.
I am sure that WordPress has updated their formatting and protocols between today’s post, and my last post a few years ago. (Was on hiatus touring, which was a good thing, but made it impossible to write blog posts.)
I don’t remember these issues with the old theme, old format, but I am happy to relearn.

The software has definitely changed over the last few years, but it’s not something specific to Sunspot and you’ll find the behaviour the same when running any theme.

Yes, no doubt.
Kathy, thanks very much for the help. It is much appreciated.
