Super FRUSTRATED II: Gravatars
-
It’s me again, the Not-So-Tech-Savvy blogger. I have uploaded and re-uploaded my Gravatar image several times. I have changed the file name and logged out and back in. I still show the default Gravatar. What gives? Your help is appreciated!
The blog I need help with is: (visible only to logged in users)

This is not an instant change. It takes time sometimes days for the gravatar image to propagate throughout the internet. It’s also not retroactive and the gratar will appear here in the forum before it begins to appear elsewhere. The best practices for uploading a gravatar are found here. > http://onecoolsitebloggingtips.com/2010/01/24/gravatar-avatar-blavatar/
FAQs are found here > http://en.gravatar.com/site/faq/

Oh ok. I changed it over a week ago, so perhaps its still in the process. I’ll wait a bit longer to see what happens. Thanks!
-
I would check the post I provided the link to and be sure the size of the image, etc. is what is recommended. Then I would check the FAQs and make sure none of the factors there are problematic either. :)

This all gives me a headache; that’s why people get paid to do this stuff! :-) Thanks for your assistance. I will take heed.
-
Also note that your gravatar will only display on blogs equipped to display gravatars and only if the blogger in question chooses to set up their blog to display them. The settings is on the bottom of this page > Settings > Discussion.

Also: it’s silly, but very often the SAVE button is so far down on the page you have to scroll down. Make sure you’re not just uploading it but saving it.
-
Not at all silly, but I have been saving. I think it’s the file size. So I will take the time to decrease it…one day. I feel overwhelmed right now! :-)

@traceeloran
We have discovered that many who are new to blogging are uploading HUGE image files. What I recommend is to optimize and presize every image prior to uploading it into your blog. See here > Ten Free Online Image Compression and Optimzation Programs > http://onecoolsitebloggingtips.com/2009/11/28/ten-free-online-image-compression-and-optimzation-programs/ -

Is it possible that @traceeloran is mixing up the ‘gravatar’ with dshboard/settings/general which say= blog picture/icon?
I just thought I’d throw that out there because it was couple of months before I realized that they were two different things myself and I was confused for a while.Could this be it maybe?

@lifewith4cats
That’s an astute observation. Thanks so much for wading in. Let’s see what she has to say. -

I went into my profile page and uploaded a Gravatar. I clicked ‘saved.’ I do see my photo in profile. Is this not correct?
