Support for Site Migration on Paid Plans
-
I’m looking to rebuild three sites at other hosts using personal plans and rebuild an existing WooCommerce website at another host using a new domain. I’ll only be migrating the existing sites posts, pages and products because the sites need a significant refresh and I can handle the migration.
That said, every time I try to connect with a human at WordPress.com, the AI Assistant refers me to the support forum because I don’t have a paid plan. I won’t pay for a plan until I get questions answered about: DNS access, SSL/TLS certificate acquisition, WordPress.com control panel differences versus cPanel, and a review of the list of plugins I plan to use for the WooCommerce website to determine one’s that may not be allowed. I’ve already reviewed the incompatible plugin list at https://wordpress.com/support/plugins/incompatible-plugins/. Please have a happiness engineer contact me. Thanks!

Hi,
Unfortunately, you cannot host a WooCommerce site on the Personal or Premium plan. You need the WordPress.com Business plan or a higher plan, as only these plans allow you to install custom plugins.
If you’re specifically looking for optimized WooCommerce hosting, you can choose the WooCommerce plan.
WordPress.com plans can be viewed here:
https://wordpress.com/pricing/If you host your website on WordPress.com, you can view and manage your domain’s DNS records and SSL/TLS settings directly from your WordPress.com account.
WordPress.com is a managed WordPress platform. The dashboard is user-friendly, but it is not cPanel. The available features and settings vary depending on the plan you choose.
Please note that expert human support is only available on paid plans. If you already have a website on a WordPress.com paid plan, you will be able to see the option to chat with a human support expert from your account dashboard.

@vishalmukadam the features of the paid plans changed recently. You can install plugins on every paid plan.

Hi there, I really get where you are coming from. These are reasonable questions to ask before committing.
If you already have purchased upgrades (like WooCommerce extensions), you can continue using them on any of our paid hosting plans (plugins are supported on all plans). You do not need the Commerce plan specifically unless you’d like to get its bundled features – https://wordpress.com/support/plan-features/ecommerce-plan/
Would you also need SFTP/SSH/database access? If yes, you might want to consider the Business plan as these features are not available on the lower-tier plans.
Most plugins from WordPress.org are supported on WordPress.com, aside from caching, security, and performance plugins listed in the incompatible list you’ve already reviewed. If you can share the plugins you plan to use for the WooCommerce site, I’d be very happy to confirm compatibility for you.
You can find more information about the WordPress.com control panel here – https://wordpress.com/support/cpanel/
You can also use subdomains and point them to your WordPress.com site.We have a 7-day refund window for monthly plans and 14 days for annual plans. Please feel free to try out our Personal hosting plan to test things hands-on.
If you’d like, please share your plugin list here or by email (to help@wordpress.com), and we’ll make sure you have solid answers before you move forward.
We’d genuinely love to support your websites when you’re ready. We also offer free migrations with any paid plan, so if you decide you’d like us to handle part or all of the migration, we’re happy to do that.
