Support Forum in Chinese
-
Hello Staff,
Just wondering if there’s any plan to have a Chinese version of the support forum. By helping out in the English support forum, I can see more and more of support topics posted by users from either China or Taiwan.
Thanks!

Hi reginabally,
As far as I know, there aren’t any plans for a Chinese support forum in the near future but I can certainly pass on your request :)

Hi @gemmacevans,
Thank you for your reply!
In case we came across topics posted in non-English and there are no language-specific forums for that, would it be okay if we provide answers in both English and in non-English (either typed in or Google translated) or should we just tag for Staff assistance?
-
Not @gemmacevans but that’s pretty much what we’ve been doing when there isn’t a related language forum available. :) https://en.forums.wordpress.com/topic/forums-in-other-languages-not-english/

Thanks @justjennifer. Appreciate the guidance!
Previously I just typed in the answers in Chinese so I’ll take note to add the English version of the answer as well.

Please do not provide Google Translated replies. If you’re a native speaker of the OP’s language, feel free to respond in that language in addition to English, but do not use Google Translate to translate answers in languages you don’t speak.
If the OP does not understand your reply in English, they can translate it themselves.

Thanks @kokkieh, Good to know and staff-zara, thanks for asking this question! Its great to have guidance on the subject.
By the way, In a situation where a question is asked in another language on the English forums, and the language does have its own forum do we navigate the user to repost the question on that forum or can we answer in both the non-English and English language?
At the moment I think I’ve only come across this once and I answered in both languages because I felt it would be a much more circuitous route for the user if I simply redirected them. I do understand that it is best to keep everything organized by language though. I also think I suggested the correct language-specific forum as well for future questions. Thanks for the help!

Hi @ wptester0, if that language forum does exist, typically this is what I would do:
– Give the best answer I can in English
– Point user to the correct forum
If you’re a native speaker you can also answer in that language. I will say I’m fairly fluent in another language, but as tech has its own sub language I only answer in English myself.
