To check to make sure you are not running IE9 in compatibility mode and to disable that see here > http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/1196-internet-explorer-compatibility-view-turn-off.html

I’m popping back in here to say that I am *drum roll* able to rebuild my sidebar using Chrome instead of IE. I can grab the widgets so far that I could not before, and when I load them, they actually STAY. This means extra time rebuilding, but hey, as long as its there and STAYS there, I don’t mind. ;)

Since I’ve been told to stop conversing with the others that are having similar problems…perhaps someone can share this info with them?

I will see if this works and come back in case anyone finds it helpful. Fingers crossed!

(Oh, and WordPress…if IE won’t support you, please advertise this, as it would save a lot of people a lot of stress.)

Thanks to the Volunteers that have helped.

  • We do support IE, and thank you and timethief for helping us to isolate this as an IE-only problem so we can work on a solution.

Hey! I did what timethief suggested, and changed the compatibility and the sidebar widget I added in chrome is showing there. Which is great. Is there a reason the compatibility changed in the first place?

Perhaps using Chrome from now on would be better regardless LOL!

And if I have seemed pissy. I have been. I know it’s not anyone in particular’s fault HERE, it’s just frustrating to be on my side, you know, working on this with limited info for the last 12hrs. :( I use my Blog for work, so this issue freaked me out.

I hope it’s resolved, I’ll let you know if I run into more problems but at least now I know – check the compatibility mode first.

Oh, and is there a way to retrieve the missing sidebar widgets so I don’t have to re-do them??

    Thanks!

  • This has been fixed now, sorry for the trouble!

If you lost any widgets, please first check the Inactive Widgets area at the bottom of Appearance -> Widgets in your blog’s Dashboard. If they aren’t there, please let us know the type of widgets that you lost.

I did lose widgets, but was not able to find them anywhere. I just put up new ones.

So far, changing the compatibility function has worked…thanks timethief!
