support more than one sidebar by default
-
Hi team,
this is a feature request for wordpress to support more than a single sidebar by default. The sidebar feature is great to have but why limit the user to only one?Currently: Right now, only a single sidebar is available and whenever it is used, it is identical no matter which page it is used on.
Expected: Users may want to display various informations depending on the page the sidebar is used with. Let’s support 2-4 sidebars by default and be done with this.
There are workarounds like http://www.travislusk.com/posts/sidebars-pages-wordpress-blog/ but why should users have to go through all that tinkering if it can be solved by default?
Would love to see increased flexibility here.
Thanks for this awesome software!

There are no cookie cutter themes here at WordPress.com. Each theme is uniquely designed so what you request is not likely to ever be implemented. More to the point is that fact that mobile use is exploding and responsive layout themes are the gold standard. Please see:
https://theme.wordpress.com/themes/features/responsive-layout/?sort=free
https://theme.wordpress.com/themes/features/responsive-layout/?sort=premiumA responsive layout theme adapts to different screen sizes so that your website will work (and be optimized for) iPhones, iPads, Android and other mobile devices. When responsive width themes are viewed on mobiles sidebars appear below the posts in order to provide as much space as possible for reading.
The mobile theme is a completely different theme. When we use a responsive theme we disable the mobile theme > Appearance > Mobile

That’s not true. Go here and click the columns link https://theme.wordpress.com/ to locate blogs with one, two, three and four columns. Also note that you can search for themes with right or left sidebars there.
Sidebar content does not have to be the same on every page in the blog. Use the widget visibility settings https://en.support.wordpress.com/widgets/#widget-visibility
